On Dec 13, we went for a 6 km hike up the Red Rock Canyon Highway to see for ourselves what we could see of the fire damage in the park. We were allowed to go as far as the Bellevue Trailhead. On our way in we walked along the horse trail. It was interesting to be right up close to where it actually burned (there was no snow). As we got to the trailhead, we could see that the fire burned on both sides of the valley, right up to the top of the mountains. Some of the trees along the river were spared. I got the bear photo and areal view of the Crandell campground from the Waterton facebook page. The campground will not be open next year.
