Northern Flickers are large brown woodpeckers. I tend to see them in the spring and fall as they migrate through. There are 2 types of Northern Flickers. The red-shafted: barred upper parts and spotted underparts, black bib on upper breast, red marking underneath the eye. The yellow-shafted: brown face with gray crown, red crescent on nape.
