Another season to look forward to our Great Horned Owl residents, nesting and hopefully producing more owlets. As of February 18, Mama is sitting on a nest. It’s always a challenge to find her. Again she has chosen a former Magpie nest and converted it to a suitable owl nest. July11: turns out our proud very busy parents have 3 Owlets that have been entertaining us all summer. October 30: One of the owlets died, no apparent injuries The other 2 owlets left in autumn. One of our adult owls died a couple of days ago, just fell out of a tree, we think it was old age. December 13: Colin Weir from Coaldale’s Alberta Birds of Prey came and we released 3 GHOs. December 18: We see one of the owls almost every day.
