There are certainly more opportunities to take photos at this time of year with all the wildlife and their new babies. Don’t often see Partridges or Grouce once the snow has gone. The White Tail Deer, No Tail, is still around with her yearling. There were very few Goldfinchs this spring; no Red Polls and no Pine Siskins passing through. The 2 Geese came around every morning, we called them Oli and Moli. They never did find a place to nest as we had no spring lakes. Finally got to see our Great Horned owlets just before they started branching, they are now flying around. There are also many more bumble bees, saw 10+ when I was weeding the garden. The red sun is due to the wildfire smoke that we occationally get. The Heron and Swans are located on a lake south of us and he Swainson’s Hawks in the lone tree are nesting in a field west of us.

Hi Marlene:
Fabulous photos as always! Spring is heavenly for birds/animals marching through your yard and some staying awhile. I just arrived back at my humble little cottage in Gimli, MB. Another solo 15 hour road trip (in 2 days). Glad I could do it another year at 80! The smoke in SK was really awful….but Calgary hasn’t been great the last 2 days! OK….time for the OIlers game!! love, LMW
As always, great photos!
GoodMorning. We have finally in the last few days been able to see the sun. Not because of smoke, there has been some but this Spring lately has been nothing but solid cloud cover. Rather depressing. You mention the difference in your usual wild life, what we’ve noticed is the humming birds. Not the usual numbers. A pair showed up about 2wk earlier than we ever noticed but no young ones yet. There was always a couple of pairs buzzing around the feeders. I hope you are doing well Marlene. I recall that you had some serious concerns. I’m fine, gone back to my Cemetery job. Its taking more of my time¬ complaining about that. They want more done there but they cry budget restraint. 2nd year of that but its just me who is there to do the work&like last year, they will pay. Or things that need doing, won’t get down. All the Best.
