Over the years we have seen many bears. Only once did we meet 2 on the hiking trail but we just waited them out until they left the area. All the others were seen from the safety of a vehicle. Black Bears come in many colours from blonde to black. In Alaska, the Grizzly Bear is usually called a Brown Bear. They tend to be a bit more blonde than our Grizzly Bears.
2020: On October 1, they finally opened the Akamina Parkway to Cameron Lake (3 years after the wildfire). On our way back we saw a Black Bear Sow and her 2 cubs crossing the road. First 3 photos are with the dash cam and others with my camera.
2021-2022: We continue to see bears on our trips to the mountains, both hiking and kayaking.
