Chipping Sparrows are great dandelion seed eaters. I have seen whole flocks of them descend on the vacant lot beside us and clear it of all the seed heads in a day or so. they climb up the longer stems until they bend down to the ground where they can reach them.

We could sure use hundreds of them here to clean out all our dandelions.
