I have photographed 70+ species of birds. Most of them I see migrating in the spring or autumn. Our full time resident birds are 2 Great Horned Owls that have nested almost every year since our arrival, sometimes 1, 2 or 3 owlets at a time. Ravens, Grouse, and Magpies also spend the whole year with us. Our summer birds are Robins, Black Birds, Kingbirds, Ducks, a variety of Sparrows, Tree and Barn Swallows. Most song birds that you may see in towns don’t stay with us as we are too isolated, with not enough trees. Precocial versus Altricial Development – read more on the differences.

Over the years my photos have improved with better equipment (600mm lens) and practice.

You can hear mostly Red Winged Blackbirds chirping.
