June 28/16 – Barry, Leona, George, and I (Waldy had to work) went kayaking on the lower Waterton Lakes. It was calm, just a slight breeze, warm 28C, and very peaceful. Not as hair raising as our last adventure! We spent 3 hours on the water and saw 1 black bear, a deer and lots of birds.
Afterwards we went to Waterton for supper. We were eating outside at Zum’s Restaurant and witnessed 2 deer attacking a kitten !! (they were trying to stomp on it) – that wasn’t very pleasant. Luckily a man intervened and gave the kitty a chance to escape.
p.s. Thanks again to George for taking most of the photos. I’ve ordered a waterproof camera.

Much calmer for sure. Lovely shots.
Good picture Marlene of you in your kayak and the lake looks nice. And I wouldn’t have thought deer would do that sort of thing to that cat! Could they possibly see the kitten as a threat? Hard to see that! Have been out on our kayaks too, to take out beaver dams that flood the beaches to nothing at the cottages. Do it every year before we go up to get the strip of sand back. Takes 45 minutes or so to get there and 80 feet of dam to take out. Doing this for years. First we kept a low profile doing this thinking not everyone would approve but now it is expected that this dam gets taken out for the summer. One more week to go and we’ll start packing. Diane and I both were working the limos during the 3 Amigos visit, 12 hour days, too long and boring. We never turned a wheel once we arrived at the Chateau Laurier, a case of hurry up and wait! Well have a Happy Canada Day, it is going to be a nice one here and hope you get the same. Dave
