Now that our snow is all gone, we are seeing more deer. See that little tree beside the deer in the 2nd photo? I planted that 4 years ago – it’s 3 times the size as when I first planted it!! I planted 10 of them and that’s the only one that has survived. I had no ideas when I bought them that they would be so small.
The song birds are starting to migrate north, and the weather is warming up. The grass is also starting to get green . There are lots of ducks swimming in our ponds and walking about trying to find a good nesting site. Sometimes the geese drop by for a visit. I believe our owl eggs have hatched as Mum is more active on the nest but I cannot see any youngsters yet. My sister sent the 2 Cardinal photos form Ontario.. we don’t see them here. They are so beautiful.

Wonderful wildlife photos right in your own backyard! And thank your sister for the beautiful cardinal photos.

Each spring in witnessing the beautiful plumage of our arriving flocks I think of a book called : Feathers: The Evolution of a Natural Miracle, by Thor Hanson. Wow, do us humans have a history with the feather ? You bet. Last week I watched a very confused young ospra trying to hang out with a mature bald eagle. No calamity in the encounter and ultimately the ospra did a re-think and off he went.
Thank you again for the lovely photo’s
So nice to see the wildlife returning…I hope to get to see your baby Owls someday.
